Charles Edward Seufferlein and Minnie Maize Shimer
 Hello Family Members!

Sorry for the delay in posting.  I've been in and out of town and just couldn't seem to find the time to post the next family post.

This post will be about the Shimer's and the Harrison's.  Shimer was my Grandma Seufferlien's maiden name.  Harrison is Grandma Goree;s (Nana to me) maiden name.

Shimer - I'm going to post a descendants file of the Shimer's.  I have a lot more data then what is being posted here, at this point.  I hope to add to my family data file and when I do I will re-post the descendants file when there are changes.  By all means, please let me know if I missed something or have something wrong.  The descendants file for the Shimers can be found by clicking on this:  Shimer Descendants File

The picture on the left is a picture of my Grandmother, Minnie Maize Shimer and Grandpa Seufferlein.  I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a set of five volumes of the Shimer family history.  They were written by Allen Shimer, starting in 1905.  He wrote about all of our family members and kept track of births, marriages, deaths and lots and lots of family history in these books.  As mentioned above I haven't gotten all of that data in my family database but I hope to add more as time progresses.  I also want to thank Ed Seufferlein for helping me with some of the Shimer data as well.
Harrison Family

Harrison - To the right you will see a picture of the Harrison Family.  Notice the two cute little blonde girls in the middle of the front rowThey are Bertha Lucille and Blanche C. Harrison (twins) and Bertha is my Grandmother (Nana to me).  Look at how mischievous they are in this picture... so darn cute!!

Well... I have a surprise for all of you Harrison Family members out there!  Thanks to Glennon Harrison (a distant Cousin) I found out that we are direct descendants of William Brewster who was the Elder on the Mayflower.  We are related to William thru Clorinda Fosdick who married Timothy Harrison (who is my 4th Great Grandfather)

As it turns out there were four Harrison brothers who came to the US they were Thomas, Richard, Benjamin and NathanielTwo went South and two went North.  The Harrison brother named Thomas is who we are a direct descendant of and the Benjamin is who the Harrison Presidents are a descendant from.  What this means is the Harrison Presidents are in fact our Uncles.

I am going to post two descendants files, one will be from William Brewster and the other will be from Thomas Harrison.

Keep in mind a descendants file is basically a family tree starting with the oldest member in our family tree.   Sometimes it's easier to find your name at the bottom and read up in the file.  These files have a lot of great historical data so it is really fun to read thru all of it.

Happy Reading!!!

Hello Family Members,

I thought I would start with a few files called Descendants files.  The descendants file starts with the oldest member of that family name, in my database and lists all of his descendants.

I am going to start with the descendants file for the Seufferlein's and the Goree's, next post (in a week or so) I should follow up with the Harrison's and Shimer's.

Seufferlein:  First and foremost I would like to give a great big thank you to our cousin, Ed Seufferlein who lives in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Ed has done a tremendous amount of research about the Seufferlein Family and was able to trace our ancestors all the way back to the 1500's!  He was very generous to share all of his data with me.  I was able to merge his database with mine which allows me to now share some wonderful information regarding our family members.

To the left is an article about Ed and his wife regarding their 50th wedding anniversary.  Ed has not only shared his family database with me he has also shared lots and lots of pictures.  I will be posting some of those pictures periodically so please keep checking back to this blog.  The oldest Seufferlein I have in my database is Johann Seufferlein and you can read/print his descendants file by going to this link:  Johann Seufferlein Descendants.  Keep in mind I don't have a lot of the more recent data, for example, I don't even have my own Great Grandchildren in there.  I will be catching up and adding more data as I get it and when I do I will re-post the descendants file.  If you should see something that needs correcting please let me know.

Bertha Harrison Goree and Sister Blanche

Goree:  When the Goree's came to the US their names were spelled differently.  The original Goree's name was spelled Gaury.  Jean Gaury is the oldest Goree in my database.  He was born about 1645 in France and died in the US 1709.

The picture to the left is a picture of my Grandmother (Nana), Bertha Lucille Harrison and her twin Sister, Blanche C. Harrison.  My Grandmother married my Grandfather (Papa), Lilbourn Lidell Goree, in 1924.

You will find lots and lots of interesting data regarding the Goree family.  I want to thank one of our relatives, Paul Goree, for sharing his wealth of information and data file about the Goree's, without him I wouldn't have near as much as I have to share with you.

To see the descendants file of  Jean Gaury go to this link:  Jean Gaury Descendants

I want both the Seufferlein's and the Goree's to know that I haven't done a lot of current research.  It's been a long long time since I have played with our genealogy but I do plan on trying to spend some more time on it.  Again.... if you should see any information that doesn't look right please let me know and I will do some research and try to get it corrected.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and I hope you enjoy what I have to share with all of you.

Warm Regards,
Gemma
